Our Work
Q Center provides community-based support for LGBTQ2SIA+ community members seeking connection and resources. Our core programs:
LGBTQ Senior Community: Aging With Pride is Q Center’s drop-in program for LGBTQ seniors. With membership of over 200, activities include meal sharing, peer support, creative groups, community education, and social events.
Affinity Groups: Q Center’s Affinity Groups program supports more than 30 peer-led groups meeting weekly and monthly in our community space. Activities include peer-based support for coming out, recovery, resource sharing, social connection, & organizing for social change.
Information & Referral: Our reception desk is staffed seven days a week by kind and knowledgeable volunteers who assist community members seeking LGBTQ2SIA+ community resources locally and statewide. We offer email, phone, and drop-in referrals.
Fiscal Sponsorships: Q Center is a fiscal sponsor and community incubator for smaller nonprofits whose aims complement our mission, vision, and values.
We wanted to learn a little bit more about the brilliant teams we have in our clubs and what better place to start than with our lovely General Managers.

Four clubs – Pollok, South Shields, Newcastle & Metro Centre
How long have you been a manager?
Eight years for this company as I came across as a GM. I’ve been a manager for 21 years in total.
What’s the best thing about your club?
I love that we have a lounge!! It’s like having two businesses in one and it’s great fun to manage!
What’s the most exciting thing that has happened while you’ve been a manager?
Meeting Liverpool legend, Ian Rush, at Celtic Manor when I was there for the National Game golf day!
Why should people come to your club?
To see me obviously!!! But really, to experience the lounge and see how bingo can be played a little more relaxed. Plus, we have the best prize boards in the North East!!
What are your favourite hobbies?
I love spending time with my kids! I play golf (10 handicap) and I love cycling.

What’s your biggest fear?
We now live in a world where doing the right thing and challenging people can have serious consequences. So, my big fear is how people will react when challenged!

What’s your hidden talent?
Juggling.
If you could be on any TV show what would it be and why?
SAS: Who Dares Wins! I am really competitive and I would love to push myself to the limit to see how far I could get.
What would be your specialist subject on Mastermind?
Tom Cruise films.
